Goodness me....where did this year go.... this time last year we were at Brad and Catherine's in Brisbane and saw Val (their special friend and neighbour) for the last time. It was a lovely lovely New Year's eve, lots of fun (people ended up in the pool!) and will always remember Val looking so elegant and telling us how to cook everything the RIGHT way. She passed away in February...it was nice to know her for even that short amount of time and still see Graham and the boys whenever we're at Brads.
Same time last year.... Benjamin spent New Year's Eve at his best mates house (happens to be called Ben also. So they are often called B1 and B2...by me anyway). A few other mates were there (Ben's Mum and Dad away!) and evidence of quite a large amount of drinking is found in photos I've seen. Fortunately, for me anyway, Benjamin was the one 'cleaning up' his friends AND the house and didn't drink too much that night . As he is working from 8 am - 4 pm tomorrow I'm thinking he won't be having a huge night tonight either, so am happy with that....
Darren and I are heading to Noosa in the morning after we drop Benjamin to work -looking forward to it. Back Saturday and then Anthony and Liam (Benjamin's cousins) are arriving on Sunday for a few days. I will MAKE sure Liam lets me give him a hug this time!! He probably thinks 'oh, who cares... I won't see her for ages...she aint! kissin me' :-)
The end of this year also means I will turn 40 in March. The end of the 30's and a new decade begins. Maturity starts then I'm told! Darren finishes with the 40's in September and.... well....we know what decade comes after that.... Dad's anniversary once again comes shortly after my birthday and it's hard to believe it will be 4 years without him in April. I'm sure where he and my Mum are they will be wishing their little girl a really 'happy birthday'....
Happy end of 2008 everyone..... and bring on 2009!!
